May 21, 2012: Board of Health Meeting

The Board of Health meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.  The Pledge to the Flag was led by Commissioner, David Butler.

Present:  Commissioner Dave Butler, Commissioner Anita Briggs Jones, Commissioner Delos Field, Commissioner Kenneth Hotaling, and Commissioner Julianne Sharratt.

Also present: Administrative Assistant, Tavis Austin; Attorney, Lynn Green; Hartwick Conservation Committee Chair, Martha Clarvoe and members Lilian and James Herman; Cooperstown Youth Baseball (CYB), David Borgstrom, MD; and members of the community.

Absent: 

New Business

  • 3133 County Highway 11.  The Board discussed the necessity to issue an order to clean up property under a Health Code Violation. 

MOTION:  Councilwoman Sharratt moved to issue Notice to clean up property located at 3133 County Highway 11, Hartwick, NY 13348 under Public Health Code Violation with 15 days for property owner to appeal and 30 days for property owner to abate.  Councilman Hotaling seconded, and the motion passed with the following vote:  Supervisor Butler "aye", Councilwoman Briggs Jones (absent), Councilman Field "aye", Councilman Hotaling "aye", and Councilwoman Sharratt "aye".

  • 313 Brunner Road.  The Commissioners discussed the trash being deposited over the bank at 313 Brunner Road. 

MOTION:  Councilman Hotaling moved to direct Lee Robbins, MD, Town of Hartwick Health Officer to evaluate the property located at 313 Brunner Road for a Health Code Violation.  Councilwoman Sharratt seconded, and the motion passed with the following votes:  Supervisor Butler "aye", Councilwoman Briggs Jones "aye", Councilman Field "aye", Councilman Hotaling "aye", and Councilwoman Sharratt "aye".

MOTION:  Councilman Field moved to adjourn the Board of Health Meeting at 7:10 p.m. Councilman Hotaling seconded, and the motion passed with the following votes:  Commissioner Butler "aye", Commissioner Briggs Jones "aye", Commissioner Field "aye", Commissioner Hotaling "aye", and Commissioner Sharratt "aye".
